Graduate Diploma Design & Technology
Based upon an urban design project which looked at the educational districts of Leeds city centre campus and their integration into the city & industry.
The brief developed was to provide a stepping stone for design graduates from their university education into innovative business. Often graduates which hope to take part in competition entries and small projects are stuck in a vacuum between full time employment and self employment, with the only option being to work from home.
The project aimed to emulate the creative environment experienced in the university setting, whilst providing cheap, short term rental of studio space, ranging from single desk to a small office environment. To enable such facilities to be available at an affordable price the scheme incorporated shops, performance space and a social environment which was aimed at attracting the same genre of core users on an evening as it did during the day to the studio space.
